SMS consent on the consult line
How consent to receive text messages is established for each kind of recipient of a PaigeFlow consult line, and the exact text of the messages they receive. This page is published so that carriers and their reviewers can verify the flow directly.
Who receives the number and how it is distributed
Each subscribing physician practice is assigned a dedicated consult line number. The practice gives that number to the emergency departments of the hospitals where its surgeon takes call, through the department’s existing on-call contact list. The number is distributed only to clinical staff — emergency physicians, hospitalists and charge nurses — for the purpose of reaching the on-call surgeon about a patient. There is no public sign-up form, no website opt-in, no keyword enrollment and no advertising of the number. PaigeFlow does not message any clinician who has not first contacted the line.
Clinicians: contact is clinician-initiated
A hospital clinician initiates contact by texting or calling the consult line about a patient. Consent to receive replies is established by that act. The assistant’s first reply on every new text thread identifies itself by name and practice and carries the message-frequency, rate, STOP and HELP disclosures. The exact text of the first reply is:
This is Paige, Dr. Lee’s AI assistant on the PaigeFlow consult line for Dr. Lee’s practice. To route this to Dr. Lee, reply with the patient’s age, sex, injury or diagnosis, imaging status, and your callback number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Later messages on the same thread relay the surgeon’s decision to the clinician who asked. For example:
PaigeFlow for Dr. Lee’s practice: Dr. Lee has reviewed the consult for the 72M with a displaced femoral neck fracture: admit to ortho, NPO after midnight, plan hemiarthroplasty tomorrow AM. Dr. Lee will call with any changes. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
Hospital scheduling staff
The subscribing practice supplies, in its account settings, the number of the operating room front desk and of the house supervisor for each hospital where the surgeon takes call. These numbers are supplied by the practice for the express purpose of receiving the surgeon’s add-on requests, exactly as scheduling staff receive them from the surgeon today. The recipients are hospital employees acting in a professional capacity. The exact form of the message is:
PaigeFlow for Dr. Lee’s practice: OR desk, Dr. Lee requests an add-on for tomorrow AM - hemiarthroplasty, 72M currently in the ER at Centennial Hills. Please confirm room and time. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
Implant representatives
The surgeon designates, by name and mobile number in the practice’s account settings, the implant representatives who cover each procedure and hospital. A representative is messaged only when the surgeon has accepted a case that the representative covers. Messages carry logistics only and never a patient identifier. The exact form of the message is:
PaigeFlow for Dr. Lee’s practice: Dr. Lee has an add-on at Centennial Hills: hemiarthroplasty, tomorrow AM. Please reply to confirm coverage. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
Patients and family members
A patient or a designated family member is messaged only where consent has been recorded at the bedside before any message is sent. The surgeon or the surgeon’s staff asks, in person: “Would you like a short text explanation of the planned procedure? Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to end messages.” The answer, the recipient’s mobile number and the time are recorded against the consult, and no message is sent without that record. The exact form of the message is:
This is Paige, Dr. Lee’s AI assistant. Here is a short explanation of the planned hip replacement — a link to the explanation follows. You can reply here with questions. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
STOP and HELP
Any recipient can reply STOP, END, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE to any message. They receive one confirmation and nothing further, and the system will not contact that number again for that consult. Replying HELP returns contact information: admin@paigeflow.com. Message frequency varies with consult volume: a single consult may produce several messages, and a quiet night produces none. Message and data rates may apply.
No marketing
No marketing messages of any kind are sent on a consult line. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy policy and Terms of service.
